I love playing with different operating systems including Linux, Windows, and Mac. I like macOS Catalina that’s why I run a Hackintosh Catalina on my Thinkpad T450. It runs very well and I am pretty satisfied with it. Today, I want to install Parallels Desktop version 15.0 on my Hackintosh. I want to share with you how this program performs on Catalina. Parallels is not the only software to run Windows on macOS. You can also use Virtualbox as well as VMware Workstation. But in this particular post, I will focus on Parallels.
There are so many things have been updated to this new version 15.0. You may want to take a look at what’s new on Parallels 15 here. It works flawlessly on macOS Catalina for sure. If you want to run multiple operating systems on your Mac, then you can continue to follow this guide to install Parallels.
The Parallels Desktop Installation Assistant makes it easy for macOS users to create a macOS virtual machine even after upgrading to Catalina—so users can still run 32-bit Mac applications on their current Mac. However, Apple doesn’t make it easy for a basic user to access older macOS or OS X® operating systems. Hi, Parallels Support just informed me that Parallels Desktop 13 is NOT compatible with Catalina, which I find super disappointing. However, PD13 was not meant to be compatible with Mojave, either, so I'm curious if this is an effort to get me to fork out another $49.99 or true. In this video, we will show you how to set up your Mac to continue to run 32-bit apps in macOS Catalina with Parallels Desktop for Mac.Click here to download.
Steps to install Parallels 15 on macOS Catalina
Step 1. Obtain the Parallels Installer
Go to the following page to download the latest version of Parallels. You may download the free trial version or you can also purchase the full version.
Save the file ParallelsDesktop-15.1.3-47255.dmg to your download folder.
Step 2. Install Parallels
Double-click the dmg file you’ve just downloaded and then double-click or right-click and choose open on the following window
Wait until the installation process completes. Once completes, you can start using Parallels Desktop to create your first virtual machine.

Step 3. Create a new virtual machine
Run Parallels Desktop. From the first window, select Install Windows or another OS from a DVD or image file. At this point, we must have an ISO file for the operating system we are going to install. For example, I am going to install Fedora on my system.
Click Install Windows or another OS from a DVD or image file
Parallels can detect any ISO file automatically. Choose the operating system and click Continue.
Now provide a name and install location
Enable the option Customize settings before installation to modify some default settings. Click Create and then we can start customizing the new VM. You can modify the cpu and memory allocation, graphics performance and so on.
Click Continue and you can now start the virtual machine
That’s it. Now you can create as many vm’s as you want. Only your system resources are the limit.
Using Parallels to run AccountEdge on 10.15 Catalina
What is Parallels?

Parallels creates a virtual machine inside your current Mac’s hard drive. Within that virtual machine, you can install a Mac or Windows operating system giving you access to run multiple operating systems at the same time.

Virtual machines allow you to run an operating system in an app window on your desktop that behaves like a full, separate computer. Since AccountEdge will not currently run on Catalina, Parallels will let you install an older macOS on your computer in order to continue to use AccountEdge even if you have already or need to upgrade to Catalina.
Parallels for Desktop 15 is the only version of Parallels that is compatible with MacOS 10.15 Catalina.

Installing a macOS on Parallels (on a computer not yet upgraded to Catalina)
To obtain a macOS installation, the easiest method is to download Parallels prior to updating your macOS to 10.15 - Catalina. You can download the macOS from the App Store or use Parallels Desktop for Mac, which contains free systems that can be installed to create a virtual machine. If you’re on a macOS prior to Catalina, the “Install macOS” method “Using the Recovery Partition” will install your recovery macOS.

Installing a macOS on Parallels (on a computer already upgraded to Catalina)
If you have already updated your macOS to 10.15-Catalina, or purchased a new Mac with macOS 10.15-Catalina, the Recovery Partition method will install macOS 10.15- Catalina on your virtual machine. Instead of using this method, you will need to obtain the installation file for a pre-Catalina macOS.
The article below outlines ways to find and download older versions of macOS.

We recommend that you keep your AccountEdge file saved locally on your Mac (within the Catalina macOS) and not within the virtual machine. Please make sure you’re creating frequent backups and saving them locally. Parallels Desktop for Mac can share data between your Mac and your Virtual Machine. New Parallels users receive Premium 24/7 phone and email support for 30 days from Parallels. For information on sharing, configuration and best practices we recommend taking advantage of your Premium support.
